Today, finally, I want to talk about mass consumption, and it's heavy burden on humanity and nature.

Facts:

There are too many supermarkets.

There are too many products, what makes it difficult to choose.

2/3 of what is in the racks is unnecessary to live a simple and healthy life.

There is a lot of food waste, while some people are not getting basic alimentations.

All these products produce a lot of trash. It's impossible to keep up with breaking down all the plastics.

We have to go to work to be able to consume, and we keep on consuming to create work.

Your dressing is bulging with clothes and shoes you never wear. You can't keep up with fashion anyway.

Let's go back to a simple life, with respect for each other and for our mother nature surrounding us.

What I already do:

I wash my body and my hair with soap bars. (Long-lasting and less packaging)

I buy second hand clothing or durable, ecological materials manufactured by companies that take care
of the people working for them.

I buy comfortable shoes (mostly sandals or barefoot shoes) that last long.

I buy drinks in glass bottles.

I try to buy local.

I try to eat natural foods.

One has to start somewhere...

Every small change makes a difference.

This week I would like to share Maria Popova's website, The marginalian' with you.
